PETER DEVITO’S PHOTOS AGAINST ANY KIND OF RETOUCHING

In the Photoshop Era, dominated by retouching and filters, when we come across a photo with defects we turn up our noses. Not to mention when the defect affects the physical, the skin, the outward appearance. This is why the shots of photographer Peter DeVito amaze, in the world of appearances the reality they show is disarming.

No make-up, no retouching, Peter’s close-ups and messages they bring with them want to be a hymn to self-acceptance, to show themselves as they are. Thus, the faces photographed proudly show defects, acne, skin spots, redness, protuberances.

On the faces are glued phrases like HumanPerfect does not exist, or, in one of his self-portraits, he takes the lyrics of Humble by Kendrick Lamar that says I’m so fucking sick and tired of the Photoshop. This particular photo was a great success on Instagram, so much to be reposted by Cara Delevigne.
