Located in Çeşme, the popular summer resort of Izmir, Turkey, Cesme House is a three bedroom summer residence that has been recently renovated by Istanbul-based design studio Escapefromsofa for all year round use. Inspired by the glorious Aegean summer, the designers have combined a modernist sensibility of light, neutral colours and simple, clean lines with a colonial style using natural materials and indoor plants, in order to create a welcoming house of sophistication, tranquillity with cosiness. On the ground floor, an open-plan space accommodates all the communal areas, culminating in a double-height, light-filled, octagonal living room that leads onto a large garden beyond. With generous sunset views, this space is ideal for relaxation whereas the adjacent open kitchen with a large dining table is ideal for the owners’ large family to convene over a home-cooked meal. Meanwhile, the porch on the front of the house provides a shaded spot to enjoy the morning summer breeze.
