The model has just launched a 1990s-inspired capsule collection – and her first-ever clothing range for sportswear giant. Following on from the success of the supermodel’s debut collaboration last year, this time she’s gone all out. The 14-piece collection, available to buy today (today people!), combines Reebok’s authentic heritage with Hadid’s unique background in both fashion and sport.
Also, just look at those summery colours. Remember orange? And turquoise? And when it literally didn’t rain all the time? God bless you Gigi for reminding us of those things. ‘I hope this collection inspires people to find the things that inspire them in life, and the things that they love that build up who they are,’ says Hadid. A former volleyball player and equestrian, Hadid was keen to incorporate aspects of her chosen sports in the designs, transforming everything from workout leggings and joggers to swimsuits, T-shirts and cropped jackets with bold stripes and colour-blocked patterns. As well as clothing, the collection also includes two versions of the brand-new Aztrek Double trainer. During the launch event in New York yesterday, Hadid spoke about how important sport is to her confidence. ‘I found confidence in myself growing up, which was through being an athlete,’ she said.’I knew I wanted that story very much to be about how being an athlete made me the person that I am, and gave me a work ethic and kind of a drive to get here.’
Reebok’s popular Freestyle Hi shoes were the first to be created for women by an athletic company, which Hadid said was really inspiring to her during the design process. ‘This silhouette is a really amazing symbol of including women in athletics,’ she said. ‘I think that these shoes are almost kind of like the story of my life, the athlete turned fashion.’
The collection is now available online now.
