The Hoxton, known for its hotels in London’s Shoreditch and Holborn neighborhoods, has taken its hip style and affordable accommodations to the Continent with the opening of a location along the Herengracht in Amsterdam.
Made up of five canal houses, the hotel features 111 rooms in a variety of sizes from “shoe box” to “roomy.” Local firm Nicemakers is responsible for the eclectic design, which was inspired by the history of the building—home to the city’s mayor for generations—and the surrounding area.
The hotel is also home to Lotti’s, a restaurant serving Italian fare, and Up Top, a mezzanine bar for coffee and cocktails. A meeting and event space known as the Apartment includes five rooms for groups and private dining, as well as a fully stocked pantry and an open courtyard. The Apartment also plays host to an array of events—from morning workouts to art exhibitions—open to hotel guests and locals alike.
