Portfolio: The Big “Autophoto” Event at the Cartier Foundation

Thirty years ago, the Cartier Foundation paid a “Hommage to Ferrari”, today it’s widening its field with a new exhibition entitled “Autophoto”. A look back at two centuries of automobiles through the work of major photographers including Juergen Teller, Jacques Henri Lartigue, William Eggleston, Peter Lippmann…

The “Autophoto” retrospective brings together the artistic work of some 100 photographers around the aesthetic, social and industrial facets of the automobile. With 450 classic shots, this nostalgic lurch, from the beginning of the 20th century through to the present day, features some of the most stunning works in the domain. Juergen Teller, William Eggleston, Robert Doisneau, Brassaï and others lead us to the discovery or rediscovery of these legendary clichés.
