New Flagship Store In Milan Acne studios

Acne studios has opened its Milan flagship store nestled in the historic piazza del carmine in the brera district. Situated away from the busier shopping streets, the retail interior is defined by the grand arch windows that line each façade, evoking symmetry and echoing the arches of the neighbouring church.

the 165 sqm store embodies a unique character which references its italian location. previously hosting a marc jacobs store, acne studios has integrated their scandinvanian aesthetic into its new space. a minimalist approach focused on texture, materials and subtle details is prominent inside. rosa baveno granite from the baveno region is used on the floors; set at the same level as the piazza outside to create a seamless flow.

‘it took five years to find the perfect place for us in milan. I am so happy that we waited, because the piazza del carmine has the exact sense of individuality and community that I like. the store is totally unique, and also totally acne studios.’ – jonny johansson, creative director, acne studios

the walls of the store feature stainless steel arch shapes that exactly mirror the windows. these are surrounded by the same granite as the floor, which is also seen by the monolithic granite tables and stools that display the products and appearing like ancient stone monuments. as the interior will be naturally filled with sunlight throughout the day, while at night, lights called ‘the mega’, a custom made light system of huge 2-5 meters aluminum fixtures will be switched on.
