Old Hollywood film stars. Royal ballerinas. The Royal Princess Margaret. Few have created an archive of imagery as iconic as Dior’s. After over 70 years of collaborating with some of fashion’s favourite photographers, Christian Dior Parfums has teamed up with the École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie (ENSP) and The Luma Foundation, a non-profit organisation that supports independent artists, to invest in the next generation with the Dior New Talent Photography Prize.
The competition’s judging panel, headed up by the pioneering photographer Peter Lindbergh, has announced Yoonkyung Jang as their first winner, highlighting her work for its “striking aesthetic qualities, mastery of colour, and the cinematographic atmosphere of the images”. The South Korean 23-year-old, who studies at the University of Chung-Ang in Seoul, has been awarded a 10,000 euro grant from the House of Dior and been commissioned to create a special piece for the brand.
