Suburbia The Subterranean Subway Charm

Born in Taranto and traveling all over Puglia, the Fotoarte festival lands for the first time in Bari with ‘Suburbia (under the city)’: the personal exhibition of the photographer Alessandro Capurso is from June 3rd to 9th at Spazio Giovani (in via Venezia 41). A “state of the art” trip through Naples subway line 1, whose artistic project was handled by Achille Bonito Oliva. As noted by the curator of ‘Suburbia’ Pius Meledandri, ‘the participation of illustrious architects of the project (Gae Aulenti, Alvaro Siza, Alessandro Mendini, Karim Rashid, Oscar Tusquets, Dominique Perrault) and the introduction of artistic elements, sculptures, innovative materials, contemporary artwork, makes the new underground hub a unique example of art and urban planning. ” Hence the will of Alessandro Capurso’s story, which explains: “The ‘Suburbia’ project is my homage to contemporary art, avant-garde, new architectures and progress. The new city that moves every day crosses the Underground and then reemerge, like a new Dante. ” The exhibition is open to visitors (11-13 and 18-20) with free admission.
