Water Bags, the glass sculptures by Dylan Martinez

Originally from Minnesota, Dylan Martinez creates hyper-realistic blown glass sculptures. For his latest work, Water Bags, he has created a series of sculptures in a heat-sculpted glasses that look like real plastic bags filled with water. With his work, Dylan always tries to create optical illusions, to challenge the viewer’s expectations through the manipulation of perception. The fantastic results he manages to achieve are due to the use of avant-garde techniques. Thanks to a new type of work, for example, he manages to create the effect of water or bubbles that seem to rise to the surface.

The love for optical illusions comes from the fact that Dylan is color-blind. Since he sees reality in a different way, with his works he wants to restore this strange perception of reality to others as well. Obviously, the illusion lasts until someone takes these bags in their hands.
