The sixteenth-century palace was the setting for the exhibition-event and the collections which highlight the technical characteristics of the fabrics produced in the city of Shaoxing. From constant research, the first yarn from bamboo pulp was born for a sustainable fabric.
Milan, 20 September 2023. The exhibition-event “Keqiao The Excellence Exhibition Sustained Research for a Better Future” was held on 19 September in the sixteenth-century courtyard of Palazzo Isimbardi, in Corso Monforte in Milan. A spectacular exhibition, in static and dynamic form, of a carefully curated selection of textile production, the result of constant research into innovation and sustainability, in the textile district of the city of Shaoxing, in the province of Zhejiang, in south-eastern China, from where one third of the quality textiles produced in the world originates.

The exhibition draws inspiration from the traditional architecture of the district, which developed in a lagoon area full of canals, bridges and magnificent parks, and will be accompanied by the exhibition of models designed by two Italian fashion creators who have been working in China for some time: Angelo Cruciani and Alberto Zambelli. Alongside them are also the creations of Chinese designers Ling Yali and Qi Bin. The stylists have created a collection of garments that highlight, with a seductive but sober taste, in a “quiet luxury” approach that best interprets the characteristics of the two metropolitan cities, the technical characteristics of the fabrics produced by Keqiao and in particular those taken from local bamboo pulp, a sustainable fibre, with low water consumption, known for its antibacterial properties.
The ten companies in the Keqiao district, which took part in the event, all boast internal laboratories for verifying and controlling the sustainability of spinning and weaving processes and have received international certificates. The choice of the Palazzo della Provincia, a symbolic place in Milanese history, is not accidental: in November 2018, in fact, a memorandum of collaboration was signed between these two metropolitan areas, both fundamental for fashion, while in 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, Keqiao donated three thousand CE certified protective suits to the metropolitan city of Milan with the support of two local textile companies and Huaxia Group Milan, Huaxia group, one of the main Chinese companies in Italy, active as a media center, global e-commerce, consultancy company for investments, cultural centers and other multi-business models.
