Blackpepper A textural study of scent for avant-garde designers Comme des Garçons

Japanese design brand Comme des Garçons marches to the beat of its own drum. Taking lead from its enigmatic founder Rei Kawakubo—forever draped in black and waiting for no one—the brand’s approach to marketing is rarely led by the same commercial concerns as its rivals.

For the release of their latest fragrance Blackpepper—a dip into the olfactory experience of the Madagascan black pepper seed—the conceptual design brand enlisted artist Katerina Jebb, who pieced together an abstract study of surfaces to communicate the moods behind the scent.
